When you shoot a 180s long exposure in Sydney harbor, you can't hardly avoid to get your picture striped by navigation lights of boats. It happens here and I had to remove one of them. It's not necessary but I think the picture is better anyway. Note there are still light traces under the balustrade, […]

For people who'll try the Before|After comparison feature above, you'll notice I over-exposed my original shot in a purpose probably even more important than normally. This way, I've been able to catch details on the head and the neck. If not, their would have been completely blacks. In post adjustment, I under-exposed the whole picture […]

North Sydney

Back from half a day in Manly. The boat is going straight to Sydney, full West and I take this picture. Note the strange effect on the water surface caused by this little speedy boy (see below) — arf! —. I took the picture exposed on the right which means I under-expose it on post-prod. I also […]

I took this photo using the same technic as , but five minutes before. I post-adjusted the picture to logically reveal highlights details — like in the sky — and enhanced the color complementarity, less visible on the original because of the voluntary over-exposure.

I just figured out I didn't post any macro for quite some time; so I decided to go out this past tuesday and make some. Adjustments are relatively basics here, I tried to enhance colors from an initial much more dull picture, to get a result closer to “what I've seen”.

What a chance to be there for this sunset in Sydney! Considering the high quantity of dark elements on the frame, I choose to expose at right. As you can notice if you do the comparison (see on the picture above), the non-adjusted version is clearly over-exposed. In fact, — as I explain it on quite […]

This was a very nice moment, just after some rain, the light was coming out again giving us beautiful reflexions and feelings. Anyway, I've to admit this picture have been a pain to post-process because of a so important contrast between highlights and shadows! Take a look to the non-processed one to get an idea…

Photography speaking, I don't like this picture. The ambient light was so awful that even after adjustments, the photo is still dull and boring. Anyway, I decided to share it with you because I found the contrast between old and new building pretty interesting and representative of Sydney.

This is the MLC Centre tower (228m high) as you can see it from thé AMP Tower (260m high) in Sydney. Obviously, the original shot was very dull because you have to take your pictures behind the glasses. I've made some basics adjustments to enhance contrast and reveal this natural vertical gradient made of cold […]

Here's the Sydney Opera House. Ok, it's a very common angle shot, but you know what? it's not easy to find a terrific spot and organize everything when you only have one end of afternoon and no more light at 6pm! Meanwhile, I've tried to make my picture more interesting than common ones by choosing […]

As you can notice if you do the comparison (see on my blog), the non-adjusted version is clearly over-exposed. In fact, — as I explain it on quite many of my pictures — it's a photography technic where you help your camera to grab as much details as possible, specially on shadows, because camera sensor are way […]

It happens some times, but I don't have posted such a kind of adjustment for some time now, so here it is. I chosen for this one a process to warmer and enhance the dramatic feeling way much than the original picture. Well, we have to admit this Bourget 2011 edition was not the best […]
