When you shoot a 180s long exposure in Sydney harbor, you can't hardly avoid to get your picture striped by navigation lights of boats. It happens here and I had to remove one of them. It's not necessary but I think the picture is better anyway. Note there are still light traces under the balustrade, […]

North Sydney

Back from half a day in Manly. The boat is going straight to Sydney, full West and I take this picture. Note the strange effect on the water surface caused by this little speedy boy (see below) — arf! —. I took the picture exposed on the right which means I under-expose it on post-prod. I also […]

I took this photo using the same technic as , but five minutes before. I post-adjusted the picture to logically reveal highlights details — like in the sky — and enhanced the color complementarity, less visible on the original because of the voluntary over-exposure.

What a chance to be there for this sunset in Sydney! Considering the high quantity of dark elements on the frame, I choose to expose at right. As you can notice if you do the comparison (see on the picture above), the non-adjusted version is clearly over-exposed. In fact, — as I explain it on quite […]

This was a very nice moment, just after some rain, the light was coming out again giving us beautiful reflexions and feelings. Anyway, I've to admit this picture have been a pain to post-process because of a so important contrast between highlights and shadows! Take a look to the non-processed one to get an idea…

Photography speaking, I don't like this picture. The ambient light was so awful that even after adjustments, the photo is still dull and boring. Anyway, I decided to share it with you because I found the contrast between old and new building pretty interesting and representative of Sydney.

This is the MLC Centre tower (228m high) as you can see it from thé AMP Tower (260m high) in Sydney. Obviously, the original shot was very dull because you have to take your pictures behind the glasses. I've made some basics adjustments to enhance contrast and reveal this natural vertical gradient made of cold […]

Here's the Sydney Opera House. Ok, it's a very common angle shot, but you know what? it's not easy to find a terrific spot and organize everything when you only have one end of afternoon and no more light at 6pm! Meanwhile, I've tried to make my picture more interesting than common ones by choosing […]

As you can notice if you do the comparison (see on my blog), the non-adjusted version is clearly over-exposed. In fact, — as I explain it on quite many of my pictures — it's a photography technic where you help your camera to grab as much details as possible, specially on shadows, because camera sensor are way […]

Waiting for my first pictures of Australia to be ready for post, here's the windy top of La Grande Motte, 3.656 m high (3.456 m for the end of the skiable area). About adjustments, I've increased the exposure a little and modify the white balance to enhance the blue tones.

That's it, I'm now back home after five weeks in Australia and more than 2000 shoots. As those ones are 80% already sortes, I would better tell you I should have enough pictures to post for a while! I hope I'll be able to post the first pictures next weeks, my schedule is quite filled! […]

A 3 minutes long shot, taken few instants before the “Kölner Lichter Musical Fireworks”. A lots of illuminated boats comes slowly along the Rhine, where thousands of people are waiting for the show. On the non-processed picture, the sky as entirely dull and brown, so I adjusted it the way you can see above to […]

Some days ago, I decided to take some pictures of the Moon, was my first time. I used my 100-400L with a 2x extender (see tags and exifs) for a 800mm focal length on my 5D Mark II. Both pictures have been cropped, so you visualize here almost a 1500mm focal length. During the session, […]

This is another view of the rock arch (). I used the same shooting technic as before: I intentionally overexpose my original shot. In fact, it's a photography technic where you help your camera to grab as much details as possible, because camera sensor are way mor efficient on highlight. It's also called to “expose […]

For this picture with old little bottles, dried flowers and ancient porcelain, I choose to adjust my picture with a slight cross processing. This helps giving to the picture an “authentic” aspect. However, please note that if this kind of adjustment for old things is more pleasant for our mind, in fact, it's only a […]
